Nexen Tire Review

July 29, 2020

What's the best bang for your buck tire? We get this question a lot and there, unfortunately, isn't one specific tire that's perfect. Each brand has different technology, designs, and price points. We find But today, we're going to talk about a tire company that has been in a lot of conversations lately. Nexen.

We'll go over a little bit about the company, review a few Nexen tires from winter to all-season and even performance, and explain whether or not they're worth the money!

About Nexen

Nexen Tires logo

Nexen was started in 1942 in Korea and was actually recognized as the first Korean tire company ever established. In 2005 the company opened its first branch in North America and set out to create innovative tires that fit a ton of different applications and to match a variety of budgets. Fun fact: the name, Nexen, is actually a combination of two words, next and century. The meaning behind this is that Nexen's name signifies their devotion to prepare for the future and make it better.

1. Nexen NFera SU1 Review

Nexen NFera SU1

The Nexen NFera SU1 is a performance tire meaning it's designed for warm, summer climates and to perform well in spirited driving such as twisty back roads or the occasional track day. That being said, the NFera SU1 doesn't sacrifice livability for performance. Looking at the tread, you can see three huge evacuation channels that will allow plenty water evacuation to reduce hydroplaning during wet conditions. The tread design also indicates that this tire won't be too noisy either. Keep in mind that this is a performance tire, so tread life is usually lower than your average summer tire. The Nexen NFera SU1 costs as low as $470 but varies based on size.

3. Nexen Winguard Winspike WH62 Review

Nexen Winguard Winspike WH62

Last but not least, if you live in an area with a lot of snow, an all-season tire probably won't cut it. Allow us to introduce the Nexen Winguard Winspike WH62 winter tire! That's a mouthful so we'll just refer to it as the WH62. These bad boys have been getting amazing feedback from so many people that have tackled some nasty conditions. The tread is super aggressive with tons of sipes that are used to pick up pieces of snow to help with traction. These are ready for studs as well so if you live in a state where studded tires are legal, this would be a great option for your winter activities. Similar to the AH8, the WH62 sits around $600 for a set of four tires which is a bargain for such a high rated tire.
