TEIN (short for technical innovation) is an iconic brand for coilovers. Whether its Dampachi (the TEIN mascot) that comes to mind or the bright green color, TEIN is definitely one of the most well known and best-selling coilover companies on the market. Known for their fantastic prices and quality, TEIN is going to continue to be a force in the industry. Today we are going to be reviewing the TEIN Flex Z.
The design on the TEIN Flex Z is new and pretty innovative for your benefit. Whether it is to make for easier installation or a lower price point that you ave come to love from TEIN, this design has been thought of with you in mind. They are made in Yokohoma Japan and they are a true JDM design, packed with TEIN technology. It features a full-length ride height adjustment, twin-tube structure, damping force adjustment system, a complete kit with upper mount, and 1 full car kit.
The Flex Z is compatible with EFDC (Electronic Damping Force Controller) series to enable in-car damping force adjustment. The upper mounts are exclusively designed for each individual vehicle model, either reinforced rubber mounts or pillow ball mounts. It is very durable and reliable and has thorough rustproofing from the famous green TEIN powder paint. The springs are made of high-tensile steel and then cold-formed that will be resistant to sagging. They come pre-loaded to make it easy for you to install, but they are not individually wrapped in the box which is a cause for concern during the shipping process.
Considering the ease of installation and the quality of these coilovers, they are off to a great start. But how do they perform? They aren't too harsh and are a great intro to coilovers if you are new to the coilover game. These are perfect for the daily driver and are not necessarily for you if you are looking to race your car.
The Flex Z handles really well, they aren't too stiff, and overall, they drive nice. There haven't been many complaints about them when you take the ease and price, which we will get into next, into consideration. They also seem to really be lasting people for a long time as well. The adjustment system makes it easy for you to adjust the ride with a few clicks. Overall this is a really great coilover for someone who wants to improve their suspension at an affordable price. Like always you can insert the make, model, year, and trim on our suspension page and find the exact fit for your car. Check out photos of TEIN coilover suspension in our gallery.
The Flex Z starts at $817, which is awesome. Getting a good quality coilover for under $1,000 is unheard of. They are completely worth it in our opinion and the opinion of those we know that have them installed on their cars. Again, this makes for a great introduction to coilovers.
It can definitely be intimidating to be looking for coilovers and see prices $3,000 and up. It makes you wonder if it's worth it to buy a lower price coilover. Or if a cheap coilover will just blow out immediately and ultimately, you end up spending more replacing them in the long run anyway. That is not the case here. We are here to tell you that the TEIN Flex Z is in fact worth it, these are a great bang for your buck and we highly recommend them.
