Best Inexpensive Car Modifications To Buy
We search around online for car parts more often than we'd like to admit, to the point where we could probably piece together an entire build in a couple of hours ago just because it's so much fun. It would be nice to just put everything you want in the cart and hit the checkout button right then and there, but unfortunately, our budgets don't allow for that.
So, if you've got a gift card lying around that you need to spend on something, or still have the itch to mod on the cheap, we took a look around and picked out some of the best modifications that you can do to your car for less than $300. Let's see what we've got.

Best Inexpensive Car Mod 1: Do Your Maintenance
We know that new car enthusiasts pop up all over the place all the time, and though you might be super excited to dive in and start making your car your own, make sure your maintenance is done first.
We're pulling the dad card here but hang with us. As boring as it sounds to keep your vehicle well-maintained, it's even more boring to have a fun car that you stuck all your money and mods into, but can't drive because the brakes are shot or the spark plugs need to be replaced, or there are other issues that you have no money to fix. So do your maintenance regularly and your car will thank you.

Best Inexpensive Car Mod 2: Underglow Kits
Dead introduction over, now let's move on to the cool stuff. Underglow never really died - it just hibernated after its explosion in popularity in the early 2000s. It was all over the place for quite a few years, but the problem was that you were constantly replacing the neon tubes as they would crack, break, or not hold up very well otherwise.
That led to the underglow fad passing by, but people soon began to realize that we don't have to stick massive, neon gas-filled tubes on our cars, because of a cool invention called "LED lights." Not only are LEDs way easier to install and way more durable, but they're also much more affordable. You could pick up an LED underglow kit for a couple hundred dollars, and we have kits in our store that you can snag for less than $200. It's one of those things that can add some serious style to your build when done properly.
We wouldn't recommend that underglow be the first thing that you go and buy for your car because that would be a little odd, but there are a good number of companies out there that make really good kits that can be programmed however you want.

Best Inexpensive Car Mod 3: Lug Nuts
Getting used to the wheels for your car is one of the best feelings in the world, right next to seeing it on the new set that you just bought for the first time, but what's this? You're still running those crusty old lug nuts that have been in the car from when it was built? Shame.
Jokes aside, a nice set of aftermarket lug nuts usually gets overlooked quite often, but it's one of those little things that can clean up your car, especially if you have a nice, shiny set of aftermarket wheels, and no lug nuts to go with it. Lug nuts are a great opportunity to add the right amount of pop of color to your car, and there are almost limitless options out there. Color, style, shape, length, whatever - if you want a lug nut in a specific style, one will exist.
Prices for lug nuts range all over the place, but you're looking at around $70 bucks for a typical set, up to a couple hundred for more stylish ones. You can pick your set right now in our inventory, and we always recommend picking up some sort of aftermarket lug nut to install and match with your new wheels.

Best Inexpensive Car Mod 4: Bushings
This next one can be looked at as a maintenance item, but it's also a mod since you get to go after updated versions of them. Bushings are another modification that often gets overlooked because there isn't anything flashy about them that gets everyone excited - it's not something you see when you walk up to a car, but they make a drastic difference to your car and the driving experience overall.
It's hard to believe that some of our favorite cars out there are getting pretty damn old, and many cars that are 20 years old or older can get a little loose and lofty on the suspension side of things. A new set of bushings, especially upgraded bushings, can make a world of difference in getting that car feeling amazing again - now, this can be a time-consuming process when you're swapping out the entire bushings in the front or rear. It's not something for the faint of heart to tackle, but it's 100% worth it.
You don't have to do the whole shebang all at once, either - you can buy bushings individually or in kits to upgrade the entire front of your car's suspension. Brands like Energy Suspension do a really good job in creating these sets, and you can pick some up for anywhere between $150-300, which makes them a perfect candidate for our list.

Best Inexpensive Car Mod 5: Dress-Up Bolts
A lot of these mods are going to fall under the category of the little touches that you can do to tie everything together, especially when it comes to the color scheme of your card, and another modification that does a really good job of that is Dress-Up Bolts.
You can get these kits for a lot of different things, but the most common ones will be for your engine bay or under the hood of your car. These kits will include all the hardware like the nuts, washers, and bolts. These can be a nice touch to clean up your engine bay if you're going that route with your car.
What Are The Best Cheap Car Performance Mods?
But what about performance? "I want to go fast," we hear you say. All the mods we've mentioned above are for looks, but the truth of the matter is that making power and going fast costs quite a bit of money to do, and unfortunately, there isn't a ton out there performance-wise that you can go snag for less than $300.
That doesn't mean that all is lost, however - there are things like downpipes and intakes out there that are very beneficial, especially for boosted cars. For the most part, it'll depend on the platform of car that you go with, but you can piece together your performance parts over time and end up with a powerful, optimized, and efficient vehicle.
